Who is this training for?

This training is suitable for  social workers, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists,, psychiatrists, other mental health and healthcare clinicians, working within the counselling space with individuals, couples, or families.


It is particularly relevant for practitioners who:


  • Work with trauma, attachment difficulties or developmental and relational trauma
     
  • Are interested in experiential, relational and embodied approaches
     
  • Wish to expand their therapeutic toolkit beyond talk-based interventions
     
  • Work with clients who struggle to access or articulate experience verbally
     
  • Are interested in integrating with small figures work with othe trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR


  Training format


  • The training is experiential and practice-based, combining brief theoretical input with demonstration, guided practice and reflective discussion
     
  • Participants will work in small groups and take part in experiential exercises, including role-plays
     
  • The approach emphasises learning through direct experience, supported by group process and facilitated reflection
     


What you will learn


  • Use figurines to externalise internal experience, making implicit emotional, relational and attachment-based material visible and accessible
     
  • Work confidently with nonverbal and implicit memory to support emotional processing, nervous system regulation and integration
     
  • Strengthen core therapeutic skills, including attunement, perspective-taking, role reversal, mirroring and rescripting
     
  • Integrate Small Figures Work alongside talk therapy with individuals, couples, and families
     
  • Apply the method across a range of presentations, including depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, grief and loss, addiction and life transitions
     
  • Use Small Figures Work as a resourcing and preparation tool within trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR
